What the internet is talking about this week (week #36)
What the internet is talking about during this week: Beetlejuice Beetlejuice’s marketing, Cleotrapa vs Ice Spice, the downfall of BeeBetter & more
I have been seeing the promotion for the movie Beetlejuice ALL OVER my social media. So, imagine my excitement when I got to interview Amanda Gordon, the Head of Social at OUTFRONT Media, the company behind the #sOOH (social out of home) rollout for Beetlejuice Beetlejuice. They wrapped a Shuttle in NYC to promote the movie.
Amanda has such an impressive resume, has worked in the industry for over 13 years, and has been behind your favourite TV show’s promotion. She was kind enough to spill ALL the tea in this interview. Here’s a sneak peek of the article:
Having OOH creative serve as the backdrop for social content allows it to extend the reach beyond the in-person views. Plus, Studios get the added bonus of having major theatre chains, like AMC and Regal Cinemas, in close proximity to the media. In addition, leveraging the MTA Shuttle Wrap is a splashy way to ‘surprise and delight’ a multi-generational fanbase, given its huge impact in creativity, size, and reach.
You can read the FULL article here (for free ofcourse). If you are in NYC today you can see the Beetlejuice Beetlejuice Shuttle for the last time (cries in Canadian). I am planning on seeing the movie to make up for it.
Let’s get back to what the internet has been talking about this week.
Cleotrapa exposes Ice Spice
I think Ice Spice has less than 30 minutes left after this storytime. A couple of days ago, @cleotrapa posted a 6 part story time explaining her treatment on the Y2K tour with Ice Spice. Because Ice Spice has been exposed for not being a girl's girl and being overall mean before the internet thinks her career is coming to an end. Within the videos, Cleo explained how she wasn’t fed, allowed to use fitting rooms or any type of accommodation, or allowed to have any team members on tour despite Ice Spice reassuring her that she would accommodate her. She would later find out that Ice Spice was telling her entourage not to take care of her.
Hawk Tuah girl is launching a podcast?
One thing about the Hawk Tuah girl, she will make a career out of a viral moment. She took the entire thing and RAN with it. I lowkey admire that. However, part of me feels like all of this is a bit forced. She looks very marketable to a certain demographic, which is why I think her management team is shoving her down our throats, but it’s still confusing that they want her to be this influencer SO BAD. She has now signed up with Jake Paul’s media company, Betr, which will produce her new podcast called Talk Tuah. @yumimain wrote: “SHE STARTED A PODCAST CALLED “TALK TUAH” MAKE IT STOPPPPPPP PLEASE” after discovering the news. So far, everyone’s response is confusing.
Tana Mongeau is a modern-day pimp (allegedly)
@msgingersnapqueen came to TikTok to warn people, especially young girls about these Only Fans agencies. According to her, influencers like Tana Mongeau are actively recruiting girls who either have only fans or feel like they should be doing only fans to sign to their agency and profit off of them. Her claims aren’t that far-fetched because Tana did launch her own talent agency called Tana’s Angels, which is a sub-division of Unruly Agency, which is currently facing 9 lawsuits for exploitation, wage theft and a bunch of other crazy stuff, honestly. She was also exposed for pressuring another influencer to join Only Fans. I wanted to possibly do a deep-dive on this because there is SO MUCH stuff. Let me know if you want that.

Mukbanger exposes his YouTube channel to be a social experiment
I apologize in advance. I did not have time to watch the 25-minute video released yesterday, so whatever I say next will simply be from Twitter. Nikocado Avocado is a mega influencer with over 4M subscribers on YouTube. He was known for making extremely dramatic mukbang videos and had gained a significant amount of weight which was affecting his health. After not posting for 7 months, he came back yesterday looking like he had lost a SIGNIFICANT amount of weight, telling everyone he had pre-recorded years ’ worth of content ahead of time and was on a weight loss journey this entire time. He was two steps ahead of us.
The downfall of BeeBetter
What initially started as a typical “The downfall of” video, which analyzes deceptive marketing tactics used by your favourite brand, influencer or celebrity, turned into an entire expose and possible cancellation of @beebetter. The influencer, who claims to have been the youngest person in Canada to have earned a Master’s degree in Marketing, decided to post a “Downfall of Kamala Harris video” where he made a lot of unsupported claims against the political candidate. That marked the beginning of the end because people started snooping into his background to find out that he is a nepo baby working at his dad’s company that is financed by the Trump administration. Not only that, his $80 honey company is a white label brand for a brand that sells it for $15, which was exposed by @hrhcollectionandthingz (allegedly). He has since lost close to 200k followers. Do you think he could possibly come back from this?
The internet discovers Bohemian culture
I was today years old when I discovered Bohemian is a culture and not just a Pinterest aesthetic. @gemmasonders came to TikTok to educate the masses on Bohemian culture. She expressed how tired she was of the commercialization of her culture and how it has been completely boiled down to being an aesthetic. Let me know if you also just discovered that.
Braider gets her first disappointed client
@saradivineee usually has pretty satisfied clients. That was until recently, when a client came in and requested dreads. Not wanting to disappoint, she started parting and braiding the young boys’s hair. However, there was one issue: the hair texture of that boy was not really made for braids. Her client is a 10-year-old white boy, who she assumes has Black friends, hence why he wanted this particular hairstyle. The boy was very quiet and patient during the whole process. But when the reveal came, he just let out a big sigh. The disappointment was loud and clear. Poor kid. 😭
This influencer drama has been going on for almost 1 year
This drama has been going on for a year. One of you guys asked for a recap, and honestly, I completely lost the plot UNTIL @halleykate posted a recap herself. It’s the classic my friend went after my boyfriend story, except they’re influencers, and the drama gets dragged out for almost a year because it drives views and engagement. The thing that really pissed me off at the end is that after all this drama, SHE WENT BACK TO HER EX, who said he didn’t want to be with her, which is how this whole thing started in the first place. And after she came to the internet to cry about it.

Chase bank users committed cheque fraud because they thought it was a “glitch”
Y’all…are we serious right now? We need to stop taking fraudulent TikTok advice, apply it to the real world, and act shocked when there are real-world consequences. Earlier this week, people deposited fake checks at their local Chase branch because a glitch gave them unlimited money for a certain amount of time. The next day. Users wake up to a frozen account, and their accounts are thens of thousands of dollars in negative. The reason? They committed cheque fraud. Not only that, but they will also face legal action. @theluncheonlawyer explained which crime they actually committed and pointed out that posting it on TikTok didn’t help their case either since it is now evidence.
